We are excited for the 2019–2020 school year and have a lot of wonderful events and volunteer opportunities planned.
The PTO is the Parent Teacher Organization. Everyone who has a child at Ross is automatically a member of the PTO. The PTO supports our teachers, students and school family in a variety of ways. We work from the start of the year with the Back to School Social to the end of the year Field Day, from big events like the Talent Show and Holiday Shoppe, to daily activities like Helping Hands and library volunteers. The PTO funds field trip buses for all 600 students and organizes and funds Author’s Day, teacher appreciation events, assemblies, yearbooks, school pictures, recess equipment, family movie night, book bingo, clubs, and much more. Our primary focus for this year will be working to update our playground by making the area and equipment more accessible to all children at Ross!
But we aren’t a PTO without YOU, the parents.
In order to stay up-to-date with our community, I recommend you “like” Ross Elementary PTO on Facebook and bookmark our website RossPTO.net. Most importantly, subscribe to the Ross E-link on the North Hills Website. ( https://www.nhsd.net/E-Link.aspx). Every week you will receive an email with information from Mr. Beall, the district and the PTO. The PTO will also send periodic emails from our online directory which will be live in early September.
The Ross PTO works to stretch every dollar that we receive to ensure that our funds go to support the students at the school and promote the best possible educational environment.
Our biggest and most exciting fundraiser will be our 3rd annual school-wide fun run. The Fun Run will take place on September 20. Each child will walk or run the track with their specific grade and can collect donations per lap. This event is a lot of fun for the students and has the potential to bring in a large portion of our fundraising goal for the year. We will also be holding one dining fundraiser each month, selling Easter candy and a few more exciting things.
In order to continue to provide the current level of PTO activities we must raise at least $75 per student, more for 5th and 6th graders. Tax deductible donations are always accepted in lieu of fundraising participation. If you would prefer to forego fundraising but would still like to help us reach our goal, checks can be made out to Ross PTO and will be collected via the front office.
Mark your calendars and join us for our fun family events:
• Back to school social – 8/16 (6-8PM)
• Book Fair – 11/4-11/5, 2/4-2/6
• Talent Show – 1/24
• Family Movie night – 2/28
• Book Bingo – 3/27
• PTO Meetings
o 9/4, 7PM
o 10/2, 7PM
o 2/28, 8PM (during family movie night intermission)
o 4/1 – 7PM
To run all of these great things, we are always in need of volunteers, we will be sending out volunteer opportunities soon via email. All volunteers will need to have their clearances on file with the office.
Please feel free to email us with any questions, comments or suggestions. We are looking forward to a great school year!

The school wide Fun Run will be held next Friday September 21 (rain date Friday September 28). Each student will have the opportunity to walk or run the track with their grade for 30 minutes.
Pledges can be collected per lap or as a flat rate. A volunteer will tally the laps and send the information home. The Fun Run funds assemblies, field trip busses, Field Day and we are working to replace the playground with new equipment that is safe and fun!
Please send your child to school that day with a water bottle labeled with their name and apply sunscreen if desired. Our theme is North Hills so please dress your child in red or NH gear.
Everyone had a great time last year and we are looking forward to another successful run this year! Let us know if you have any questions!
